Is your ability to work and earn a living protected in case of a disability? Protecting your most valuable financial asset—your income—is now more important than ever. Because of your membership with the National Physicians Alliance, you're eligible to apply for quality individual disability insurance and receive a 10% discount!*

*California residents: Plan varies; no discount available.

Think about it: if you became too sick or hurt to work, would you be able to pay your monthly bills? Just one year of disability could wipe out many years of savings. But with Individual Disability Income Insurance through the NPA Member Insurance Program, you can help protect this valuable asset you have worked so hard to achieve.

Consider the following facts:

• 51 million Americans–18% of the population—
  are classified as disabled.¹
• Three in 10 workers entering the workforce today will become
  disabled before retiring.²
• In the U.S., a disabling injury occurs every one second,
  a fatal injury occurs every 4 minutes.³
• Of the over 6.8 million workers receiving Social Security
Disability benefits, almost half are under age 50.²
• In the last 10 minutes, 498 Americans became disabled.³

How it works: An Individual Disability Income Insurance policy through the NPA Member Insurance Program helps you pay your necessary living expenses if you have a qualifying disability. It is non-cancelable and has guaranteed premium rates to age 65, meaning the insurance carrier cannot change or cancel your policy—except for nonpayment of premiums—or increase your premium before you reach age 65, regardless of changes in your income, occupation, or health!

After age 65, you may still conditionally renew your policy annually for the rest of your life as long as you are working full time and meet the requirements. If you conditionally renew your policy, your premium will change based on your age at renewal.

How it pays: You will be issued a maximum monthly total Disability Benefit based on your current income and occupation when you purchase your policy. Once disabled under the terms of the policy, you must satisfy your policy's elimination period before receiving benefits.

Definition of a Total Disability:

During Your Occupation Period:

• You are unable to perform the substantial and material
  duties of your occupation, and
• You are not working

After Your Occupation Period, you must be unable to work in any occupation you are reasonably suited to by your education, training, and experience.

You can purchase Your Occupation protection until the end of your benefit period.

Options for applying for your Disability Income benefit: Your options are a Simplified DI or a fully underwritten policy.

• Simplified—up to $3,000/month of benefit with no
routine medical requirements or financial verification
needed (if annual income is less than $150,000), quick
and easy application process and a decision within
48 hours after your application and TeleApp (telephone
medical interview) are completed and received.
  No routine medical requirements.¹
• Fully underwritten—higher disability benefits
available—up to $15,000/month based on your income.

Homeowner's Insurance

The typical homeowners (home) insurance policy covers the house, garage, and other structures on the property, as well as personal possessions inside the house such as furniture, appliances, and clothing, against a wide variety of perils including windstorms, fire, and theft. The extent of the perils covered depends on the type of policy; for example, an all-risk policy offers the broadest coverage.

Homeowners insurance also covers additional living expenses while the house is being restored after a disaster. The liability portion of the policy covers the homeowner for accidental injuries caused to third parties and/or their property. Coverage for flood and earthquake damage is excluded and must be purchased separately.
